Technology and outreach

CIVICUS engaged Level73 to expand the public accessibility and reach of the CIVICUS Monitor research platform by developing new ways for external organizations, researchers and media outlets to interact with its data and visual content.

Interoperability

Working alongside the existing development team and infrastructure built with Django and Wagtail, we designed and implemented an embeddable map system allowing third parties to dynamically integrate contextualized CIVICUS Monitor data directly into their own websites and publications.

The feature enabled activists, journalists, researchers and advocacy organizations worldwide to reuse and distribute structured information more effectively, extending both the visibility and operational impact of the research project.

Beyond platform integrations, we also collaborated on the design and development of annual report mini-sites built around a visual storytelling approach, working closely with researchers and visual artists to translate complex findings into accessible digital experiences.

Closing note

Particular attention was given to accessibility, performance optimization, maintainability and long-term sustainability, ensuring that the platform and its related digital ecosystems remained reliable, adaptable and broadly accessible over time.
